Neuraspace builds AI-powered space traffic management and collision-avoidance solution - essentially "air traffic control" for satellites. Neuraspace raised €15.6 million in mid-2026, on top of an earlier €2.5 million round, after reporting 350%+ revenue growth in a year. Customers span ESA, NATO, the Portuguese Air Force, and commercial operators like Spire Global.

As satellite counts explode, AI-driven autonomous collision prediction will become essential infrastructure, meaning, Neuraspace's dual-use (civil + defense) platform, NeuraspaceDEF, positions it well for Europe's growing defense-space budgets and sovereign ambition.

2. Apex Space

Founded: 2022

HQ: Los Angeles, US

Apex makes "productised" off-the-shelf satellite buses - standardised platforms customers configure rather than custom-build - cutting spacecraft lead times dramatically. It has raised $718 million+ total, hitting unicorn status with a $1 billion+ valuation in September 2025 and then doubling to a $2.3 billion valuation in June 2026 on a $200 million raise.

Apex is a collaborator with Northrop Grumman on the Golden Dome missile-defense interceptor program and counts "nearly every major defense prime" as a customer. Its mass-production approach is meant to solve the satellite “bottleneck” for DoD and commercial constellations. It also teamed with tech giants like Amazon (for Amazon’s Project Kuiper) in 2026. 4. K2 Space

K2 takes the contrarian bet that satellites should get bigger, not smaller, to exploit heavy-lift rockets like Starship and New Glenn. 18. Starcloud

Starcloud is building orbital AI data centers - satellites carrying Nvidia GPUs, powered continuously by solar energy and radiatively cooled by space. It became the fastest Y Combinator company ever to reach unicorn status, raising a $170 million Series A at a $1.1 billion valuation (April 2026), for $200 million total raised.

Starcloud-1 (with an Nvidia H100) already trained an AI model in orbit; Starcloud-2 (Nvidia Blackwell) is next, working with AWS, Google Cloud, and Crusoe. A rival ABEP developer to Kreios, Viridian is building an "Air-Scooping Electric Thruster" for VLEO satellite operation and eventual in-orbit refueling / servicing. It has raised a modest ~$2 million to date via pre-seed and grant funding.

It has received SBIR contracts from the US Air Force and National Science Foundation (including a $1.7 million Phase II DoD SBIR) and a five-year CRADA with the Air Force at Kirtland AFB. 22. NewOrbit

23. Sophia Space

Sophia Space builds "TILE" - thin, solar-powered, passively-cooled computing modules designed to become the building block of full orbital AI data centers. It’s IP traces back to a $100 million Caltech / JPL solar-power-beaming research program. The company raised a $10 million seed round (Feb 2026), bringing total funding to $13.5 million, and holds a new US patent (with Caltech) for its space-based data-center architecture.

Alongside Starcloud, it represents the leading edge of "orbital compute" - Sophia's angle is thermal efficiency (92% of generated power going to processing) rather than raw scale.

24. Vast Space

Founded: 2021

HQ: Long Beach, US

Vast is building Haven-1, intended to be the world's first commercial space station (launch targeted early 2027), followed by the modular Haven-2 as a potential ISS successor under NASA's Commercial LEO Destinations program.
